What is a U-100 syringe?

A U-100 insulin syringe reads 100 units per millilitre. That's why units depend on concentration: units = (dose in mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL) × 100.

Why do I need concentration to convert to units?

A syringe unit measures volume, not mass. The same dose in mg takes more or less volume depending on how concentrated the vial is, so the conversion needs mg per mL.

How many mcg is 1 mg?

1 mg = 1000 mcg = 1,000,000 ng. One gram is 1000 mg.
